 LIBRARY PAGE - YOUTH SERVICES


10 hours per week, beginning in September 2010

Unique opportunity at E. D. Locke Public Library!  Energetic, friendly, responsible, creative and organized person needed to assist and support library services for children and teens.  Child-friendly demeanor a must.  Works closely with Youth Services Librarian.  High school diploma required; additional education a plus.  Prior experience working with children and/or teens is preferred.  Predominantly a weekday schedule but some flexibility required, including the ability to work occasional evening or weekend shifts as determined by the needs of the department.

Job duties include:
· Prepare library program support materials for ages 0-19
· Assist with youth programming, including teen services
· Create book displays and signage for children and teens
· Assist with collection maintenance
· Filing & organizing

Starting wage is $7.75 per hour.

 EMS DIRECTOR 

The Village of McFarland (pop. 7,400) seeks strong leader for its EMS Department which serves the Village and several surrounding townships. The service operates at the Intermediate Technician level and runs about 525 calls per year. The department is staffed by five full-time EMTs, who also provide clerical support and janitorial services to other Village departments, and thirty volunteers. 

Desired qualifications include a minimum of seven years progressively responsible experience in the EMS field which demonstrates leadership and managerial qualities, including at least four years supervisory or administrative experience. Requires demonstrated ability to recruit, train and supervise both career employees and volunteers, to prepare and manage annual budgets, and to develop and implement short and long range plans. Excellent leadership, human relations, communication and training skills needed. Qualifications and experience in management and operations of related emergency services a plus. Must have or be able to obtain a valid Wisconsin driver’s license and emergency vehicle operator’s license, and Wisconsin certification as an EMT- Intermediate Technician. The EMS director may be assigned to the ambulance schedule to cover occasional shift vacancies. 

Starting salary range is $62,946 - $70,787, DOQ, with additional increases to $79,596. Competitive fringe benefits package. Village residency within a three minute response time area is required within twelve months of hire.

LIBRARY SHELVER

Responsible, detail-oriented person is needed to:

  •     Sort, shelve and locate materials
  •     Make sure materials are in order
  •     Empty book drops
  •     Perform other tasks as needed

The job is:

  •     9-11 hours/week, year-round
  •     Rotating shifts, including:
  •         Monday – Thursday afternoons from 3:30-6:00,
  •         Monday – Thursday evenings from 5:30-8,
  •         Friday afternoons from 3:30-5:30
  •         Saturdays from 9:15-1:30 or 1:00-5:30, and
  •         Sundays from 12:00-3:00

   MUST be able to work all of these shifts, with no conflicts.
    $7.25 per hour to start; no benefits.
    One year minimum commitment is desired.
